The Ambulance…What If?

My dad (Greg H.) actually wrote this piece that is written below…
None of this is my writing…nor do I take any credit for it

I’d like you to think about this . . .

This could happen to any of us. It is a reality that we all must face. Let’s say all is well in your life right now, which I’m sure it is anyway. You go through the routine of getting up to face a new day and successfully get through the day with its work and leisure and later go to bed to sleep and awaken to another day.

Life just keeps going on and on and you feel like nothing can stop you from accomplishing what you’ve set out to do.

You make plans for the days, weeks and months to come and have confidence that you will continue to go through your daily routines and live to see those plans fulfilled like everyone else does.

You get up one day to go out to accomplish another day of work and leisure and fulfill your plans when suddenly, without warning, you get into a serious accident. You blackout for a short time and then open your eyes to find yourself in an ambulance in critical condition and extreme pain all over your body.

Now everything has changed and there’s nothing you can do about it. You are no longer in control of your day as your life has taken a terrible turn for the worse. You are stuck in an ambulance on the way to the emergency and you can’t go home. You can’t contact anyone.

Your condition worsens and you have only a few minutes left to live. You can’t believe this is happening to you. This only happens to other people. You have plans and things to accomplish in life. You want out of this situation you are in but there’s nothing you can do to change your circumstances. You can’t even say bye to your family and friends or even your close sweetheart.

Time is ticking and your heart and breathing is going to stop at any moment. You are about to leave this world. All is finished and there isn’t a thing you can do about it. You feel helpless and alone. At this moment you wonder what’s beyond this life. Before, when all was going well you always had control of your life, but now you have lost that control and you are slowly dying.

What you’ve always believed cannot change what is now happening to you. Your focus is more on what’s next. You might wonder in that moment if God IS real. What if what’s written in the Holy Bible IS true? You didn’t believe you’d someday be in an ambulance, facing death and yet . . . here you are. It is now a reality that can’t be changed.

You might laugh at what I’ve written or even mock me, but you can’t control what the future holds for you in this life and beyond no matter how much you don’t want to believe in anything. None of us can prevent ourselves from getting into a death related accident. It happens to people every day out there and suddenly without warning.

Some people believe they’ll live pass retirement age, but how can we be so sure of that. What if today or tomorrow is all you have left? Wouldn’t it be nice to know that there IS something to look forward to beyond this life? To know that you can meet the Creator of the universe, who loves you very much? To have peace in your heart without fear even while on your deathbed.

If a time ever comes when you find yourself suddenly facing death, believe on Jesus to save your soul and call out to Him to save you. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. He is your only hope beyond this life.
